Things here haven't been going well. Sophomore year has turned into the worst year of my entire life. People have stabbed me in the back when I needed them most, people have left me, used me, time and time again. But I guess these little experiences make us stronger. Still, I wish more than anything that I was anywhere but here. To be honest I've thought of transferring. Looking at the course schedule for next semester there is only one class that relates to my major, and not a single class that I can take for my minor. So somehow I have to take 5 classes that will help me graduate. So far I have found two. But perhaps it's just the curse of sophomore year and things will get better? You tell me. Right now I'm stuck in this pit where I feel alone and I have to figure out everything for myself so I guess I'll continue fighting on until May when summer arrives. No matter what though, I'll figure out where I need to go.

Life's Battle
On a whim I checked this blog and noticed that some people are actually still checking this blog, which makes me happy and sad. Happy because people still care, but sad because I gave up on this promise of mine.

Update
Hello everyone!
I'm not sure how many people check this anymore, but I'm going to make an honest effort to write on this more often. I'd like to start off with a little self promotion (which is allowed since it's a blog) and re-direct you to my profile on a website called Figment. It's a self publishing website and I'm going to be posting some of my stories on it. Here is my first one so I'd appreciate it if you could read it and review it for me! http://figment.com/books/681594-A-Moment-in-History-

Creative Writing Class
So most of you reading this probably know that I want to be an author. I am currently taking a creative writing course at Franklin and I am "forced" to post what I write on a blog. The purpose of posting my personal writing on the internet is to get over my fear of people reading what I write, so here is the link!

Enjoy!

Carnevale Again
Carnevale was an interesting experience, even for just the two days that I went. On the first day we took the 10:30 train to Bellinzona and found a Carnevale tent that was full of Franklin students. My friends and I danced for hours and saw many strange things, which are probably typical for Carnevale.
The second night was much different, and I wasn't exactly excited to go. I ended up deciding to go out with my friends on the 10:20 train, which was standing room only. And by standing room only I mean that everyone at Franklin was standing on the train squished together. I noticed that one of my friends wasn't feeling well all of a sudden (he was drunk), and he showed me that he cut open his hands. He was also extremely sick and asked me to take him home when we got to Bellinzona. My friend Sam and I cleaned up his hands, make him drink water, and tried to get him to the platform. By this point our friend didn't want to move so we had to physically carry him onto the train. Carrying him wasn't easy even with both of us, and it turned out that we were on first class when we shouldn't have been. The train staff approached us, I asked them if they spoke Spanish, and I quickly explained to them what was happening. We didn't even have enough train tickets between us three, but they allowed us to be on the train and didn't fine us. They even asked us what they could do to help.
When we arrived back in Lugano we met the RA on duty and she helped us take care of our friend. Eventually we got him all the way back to his room. I'm thankful that I went to Carnevale last night even when I didn't want to; if I hadn't, I wouldn't have been able to help out my friend in need.

Carnevale!
Hello everyone! I haven't posted in a while, but I didn't really have much to say before now. This semester is going great. I love most of my classes, which are Creative Writing, Reading Literatures, English, Italian, and Game Theory. Yes, it's a lot of literature and writing courses but that's what I love to do. I'm currently deciding between a Literature major and being a Comparative Literature and Culture Studies (CLCS) major with a minor in Creative Writing.
This week is particularly exciting because I am going to Carnevale! Around this time of year, Italy and my canton in Switzerland have their Carnevale events, so I bought a weekend pass to go! This is quite exciting for me since I have never been to one before. Customarily people dress up in crazy costumes, ones more ridiculous than Halloween. Imagine a crazier Halloween that lasts for weeks, that's what I'll be experiencing! Have a good day everyone! I'll be sure to write how this weekend goes. :D
P.S. Yes, carnevale is spelled with an e in Italian, I'm not crazy :)

Arrivederci
I know that I pretty much fail at blogging consistently. This last month has been truly wonderful. I spent most of my time surrounded by my friends that I love dearly, and studying for finals that I did not quite love as much. What I love the most will come in 3 hours, the moment when I lock up my room and catch a taxi to the train station, where I will catch a bus to the airport in Milan. From there I fly to New Jersey, Denver, and then Redmond. I cannot believe that I will be in the United States of America so soon! Of course I am beyond excited, but what will it be like? I haven't been in an English speaking country in four months, let alone seen my friends and family. How much have I changed? This adventure continues to prove exciting and terrifying. I'll enjoy every moment. <3
And with this I say:
Arrivederci Svizzera, e ciao gli stati uniti d'america!

Week Update
This last week has been by far the roughest week I
have experienced at Franklin. Last week I received the news that my great
grandmother passed away. The news of course made me extremely sad, but luckily
I have a good support system here and back home. The roughest part has been
being away from home and my family and friends during this time.
It turned out to be quite a busy week on top of
staying strong. The game of Assassins is currently being played on campus here,
which I have found to be quite distracting and entertaining. For those of you
who don't know what Assassins is, each person who wants to play pays 10 francs
to the school (as a fundraiser for my residence hall's Swiss living community).
Each player receives a card with the name of another player, who is their
target. Their job is to find their target (outside of the safe zones) and touch
them with a spoon. It sounds simple, but keep in mind that someone is chasing
you with a spoon as well. The game gets very intense because everyone wants to
win the prize of a 100 franc gift certificate to one of the local grocery
stores. I did not play, but I agreed to help my friends win. I aided them by
getting them food and walking them to class to help them avoid the people
trying to catch them. Unfortunately, both of my friends were caught within the
week!
Another element to this week was a trip to Milan
for my freshman seminar class. We went to Milan all day on Saturday to take
pictures and videos of people in Milan using their cell phones or other mobile
devices (I am in the mobile communications freshman seminar class). It turned
out to be quite an enjoyable trip despite the freezing weather! I enjoyed Milan
more than I thought I would, I pictured it to be the typical touristy Italian
city, but it was very beautiful and had a completely different vibe from
Florence and Venice.
Next week will be rough as well, so I'm hoping it
will be okay. Through it all I'll be strong with the knowledge that I will be
visiting Oregon in less than a month!
